📜 Story Behind the Craft

This piece is inspired by a treasured pattern from the Ming Dynasty, where phoenixes, the sovereigns of all birds, dance amidst blooming peonies, the “king of flowers.” Together, they symbolize regal grace, noble fortune, and flourishing life.

In this edition, a vibrant handwoven Shu brocade panel is framed in transparent acrylic—a deliberate contrast that brings ancient symbolism into modern design. As a national intangible cultural heritage, Shu brocade was historically reserved for courtly offerings and is still revered today as a prestigious diplomatic gift.

This work is overseen by He Bin, the National Representative Inheritor of Shu Brocade, whose legacy carries the rare, complete mastery of the entire traditional weaving process.
