This piece is named Lotus Shadow in tribute to the poetic stillness and clarity of a lotus pond at dawn. In Chinese culture, the lotus symbolizes purity emerging from complexity—an ideal echoed in the slow, deliberate rituals of tea. This cup is not mass-produced; each is individually shaped and fired by Longquan celadon master Li Maolin, who trained under national-level ceramicists and developed his own distinctive expression within the heritage.
Li Maolin is a senior member of the Longquan Ceramics Association and a recognized master craftsman in Zhejiang. He studied at Jingdezhen Ceramic University and has devoted decades to celadon artistry. His personal workshop is known for producing refined, thoughtful pieces with a deep respect for both classical form and subtle innovation.
Each cup represents the continuation of a 1700-year-old celadon legacy, informed by Li’s deep training and artistic lineage.
Rooted in Imperial Ceramic Traditions
This tea cup is crafted using the principles of Longquan celadon—a ceramic technique revered since the Song Dynasty and once reserved for imperial use. Known for its luminous glaze, fine body, and enduring strength, Longquan celadon stands as a testament to Chinese ceramic mastery.
